Imagine this:
You're the bully target, the guy with a bulls-eye on his back. You and your repo-man dad moved away, but still they find you, that group of four jerks, the ones who beat you to a pulp.
Then for your 16th birthday, you get 16 grand from your absentee mom. Cash. What do you do?
Do you:
A) Buy a first-class ticket out of town. Anywhere but here.
B) Put it in a savings account, because you're a sensible guy.
C) Give it to charity, and hope karma does its thing for you.
D) Buy a 1971 Curious Yellow Plymouth Scamp, with bumblebee stripe, so you can drive away like a bat out of hell.
In my novel The Ground Crew, David chooses option D. But then his over-protective repo-man dad grounds him, so he gets to spend Spring Break with three other grounded kids: the Ground Crew.
Just when David thinks he's making friends (and getting somewhere with fellow-grounded pretty-girl Laney), someone starts to take out the Ground Crew. One by one. Making them pay for what got them grounded.
Now it's up to David and his new friends to find out who's out to get them. And why. Before it's David's turn.
